Spotify Filed Official Application to RTÜK
Spotify filed its official application to RTÜK. When spotify applied, it was 4 hours before the end of the 72-hour period.
Radio Television Supreme Council (RTÜK) gave 72 hours to the application named Spotify, which was warned to apply for a license a while ago. Although Spotify's users were worried about the lack of news on the subject for a while, Spotify applied for a license 4 hours before the expiry date. İlhan Taşçı, a member of RTÜK, conveyed this development on his Twitter account with the following words:
"Spotify officially applied to RTÜK for a license four hours before the end of the 72-hour period ..."
RTÜK Made a Written Statement
After İlhan Taşçı reported the situation via his Twitter account, a written statement came from RTÜK. RTÜK used the following in its statement:
“Spotify, an international organization that provides on-demand broadcasting services in the field of music in accordance with our legislation, made its application within the legal period and started preparations for licensing processes. Our supreme board, which always conducts a constructive and open dialogue based communication with both national and international
media organizations within the legal framework, will continue to maintain the same attitude from now on.
RTÜK, with its mission to support visual and audio media, will always continue to guide broadcasters.”
