Stock Market Breaks Record In The First Half Of The Day
The stock market breaks a record in the first half of the day. In Borsa Istanbul, the BIST 100 index gained 0.45 percent and reached 1.576.39 points. The BIST 100 index refreshed its highest level record to 1.582.04 points.
The BIST 100 index, which progressed in an upward trend in the first half of the day, reached an all-time high with 1.582.04 points, increasing by 7.04 points compared to the previous close and found a balance at the level of 1.576.39. The total transaction volume was recorded as 14.1 billion liras.
In the first half of the day, the banking index gained 1.28 percent, while the holding index gained 0.18 percent. Among the sector indices, stone and soil earned the most with 2.63 percent, trade was the most declining with 0.42 percent.
Analysts noted that the global share markets were on a positive course with the increasing expectations for fiscal stimulus packages after Joe Biden took over the presidency.
Analysts stated that the interest rate decisiond of the Central Bank of the Republic of Turkey (CBRT) and the
European Central Bank (ECB) will be instrumental in determining the direction of market. On the other hand, analysts announced that the CBRT is not expected to increase interest rates at the meeting to be held today.
At the last MPC meeting of 2020, the policy interest rate, which was 15 percent, was increased to 17 percent.
