Supreme Court Demanded Security of Digital Rights in China. The security of the country's legal system regarding the protection of digital asset rights was requested to be strengthened.
The Chinese supreme court issued a new guideline on Wednesday that the legal system should be increased to protect new property types such as digital currencies.
The Supreme Court did not elaborate on the definition of "digital currencies" or the depth of the issue. However, the number of legal disputes on this issue in China is increasing day by day. Discussions about ownership of digital assets are also of interest to popular cryptocurrencies like Bitcoin and Ethereum.
In China, regional and municipal courts had previously been decided to evaluate digital currencies such as Bitcoin as virtual property. On the other hand, the highest judicial body has made no assessment of the issue so far.
The Chinese supreme court has published the guide, along with the nation's top economic planning agency, the National Development and Reform Commission (NDRC).
