Tesla Recalls About 50 Thousand Vehicles Sold to China
US electric car manufacturer Tesla recalls about 50,000 vehicles sold to China. The reason for the call was cited as a safety risk in the front and rear suspensions.
Electric car giant
Tesla recalled 48 thousand 442 vehicles produced in the USA and sold to China between 2013-2018 due to security risks.
In the call made by the Chinese Market Regulatory Authority to Tesla, it was requested to change the right and left linkages of the front and rear suspensions and not to charge customers with additional costs.
In the statement of the National Highway Traffic Safety Authority (NHTSA), the US vehicle safety authority, it was stated that no similar complaints were received for vehicles in the USA.
NHTSA stated, “We are in contact with Tesla and are following the situation closely. We do not hesitate to act to protect the public against irrational risks.” Tesla users were urged to contact NHTSA in case of a complaint.
According to the news compiled by Gasgoo from China's automotive sites, 29,193 vehicles produced between 17 September 2013 and 16 August 2017 and 19,249 vehicles produced between 17 September 2013 and 15 October 2018 will be recalled. All the cars called were made at Tesla's Fremont factory in California.
Tesla's shares declined by more than 2 percent after the news on the subject was published.
Thus, the fourth call was made for Teslas exported from the USA to China. In previous calls, faults in airbags and steering wheels were cited as reasons.
Tesla's lawyer, Elizabeth Mykytuik, in a letter shared with NHTSA, pointed out that the error was caused by the driver, and included the following statements:
“If a driver frequently repeats abuses such as pit accidents and heavy braking, some parts of the vehicle may be damaged. This situation causes damages or delay of damages. "
