The Concept of Unlearn

Cemil Şinasi Türün, one of the pioneers in the world of fintech and marketing, made an assessment on the subject in a panel on 'unlearn' at an event organized by the blockchain club BUCHAIN at Boğaziçi University a while ago.

Cemil Şinasi Türün, one of the leading names in the world of fintech and marketing, used the following statements in his article: “While preparing for this panel, I thought about what I should have unlearned in my own life in the past. Of course, there are good and bad examples that I see around me. First of all, there is no rule that everyone will or can unlearn. I will have many friends who are content with their lives and will continue to live that way without changing what they know. We cannot force change on anyone. In September 2011, we were working on another digital currency system called kayme when I first met the bitcoin article in detail. We built a virtual and 3D world and built HTML-compatible 3D shops of all stores, including Migros. We were trying to get Kaymen in Migros and many other retail stores and accepting it as an alternative payment system instead of TL. We were aware that Bitcoin's 10-minute consensus cycle was too long to pay at the cash register, at that time the term blockchain had not yet emerged. However, in 2014, when we came to a point where caliber and our 3D virtual world carrying it could not be advanced any further, I decided to unlearn all I know and learn about blockchain technology and rethink all these issues in a decentralized way. This was an important unlearn experience for me. A transformation is taking place in the world right now and we are moving towards a new multipolar world instead of the unipolar one we have been living in since 1991. This trend accelerated especially after Russia's military intervention in Ukraine. This multipolarity will quickly affect countries and the people in them. We will have to learn and adapt to new conditions that will arise socially and economically, perhaps new situations will arise that we must collectively unlearn as the people of the world. We'll have to replace our old heads. In my articles on BTCHaber since January 2019, I have been observing and trying to explain to you how the blockchain revolution is taking place step by step. From now on, we are going to a multipolar world and blockchain technologies will play a bigger role in this new world than before. In the old unipolar world, business was carried out in a structure where central banks (central banks and central monetary systems) were effective. The money used in international trade was the centrally produced dollar, and this was not questioned, it was assumed that the "petro-dollar" system would always be valid. But look now, when the SWIFT system was closed to all Russian citizens and companies as a result of the sanctions of the Ukraine war, the emergence of a number of alternative structures was accelerated. This is where the blockchain revolution comes into play. Now the Russians sell oil and gas in rubles. While it was unlikely that this could happen at first, now the new normal is that the ruble becomes a regional reserve currency. What needs to be unlearned in the blockchain revolution?
  1. It is necessary to abandon the thoughts that the revolution is delayed, indexed to the price of Bitcoin and altcoins. There is no relationship between coin and token prices on exchanges and the development speed or capabilities of entrepreneurs. They, namely the developers, are already writing the codes of the revolution at full speed.
  2. It is necessary to unlearn the information learned in classical central financial systems and to think of new decentralized structures. Decentralized financial structures called DeFi will only work in the long run if they are built with the right approach.
  3. The idea that central control is essential is very hard to abandon. This seems to me as the last topic to be unlearned. Most of the people will complete their lives without being able to refresh their minds about it.
  4. We cannot call the centralized network of nodes a blockchain, it becomes an oxymoron. The “square circle” is an example of an oxymoron. Or “the father with no children”. Just like in these examples, there cannot be a "central blockchain". This is also an oxymoron. We need to be clear about this.
  5. There are structures in Turkey where credit can be created at the periphery (decentrally) and people are creditors. And yet, people still can't think of the concept of decentralized credit, they have to look for a bank in the center, and they say that a mortgage (to provide collateral) is necessary for the loan is information that needs to be changed, but it is difficult to unlearn.
What will have to be unlearned in the new multipolar world?
  1. It is one of the hardest things to explain and believe how we can move from the Dollar centered structure, where every transaction is invoiced with Dollar, to another one. No matter how hard we try, it seems that the truths in people's minds will not change.
  2. You know BRICS. Memorizations will change here, too, and new structures are emerging apart from the formations dominated by Anglo-Saxon countries. The emergence of new G20s and other G8s may occur soon, as non-aligned countries India, Brazil, Russia and China form new economic communities by taking countries such as Turkey and Mexico with them. It seems that it will be possible for these new formations to take along smaller economies but well-established states (eg Egypt and Iran) or large populations (Nigeria, Indonesia, etc.). We will see in the future what countries in the middle such as Malaysia, Pakistan, Vietnam, Argentina and South Africa will do in this structuring.
  3. Trade between Russia and Turkey gives a surplus of 50 billion dollars in favor of Russia, with an import/export ratio of 65 billion to 15 billion dollars. However, this surplus will soon be expressed not in dollars, but in rubles and/or TL, or in baskets made from other countries' currencies. While we used to do the conversion (exchange) between Ruble and TL in dollars, now we will do it directly with our own currencies. It is very difficult for many people to be convinced and unlearned about this issue right now.
The Russian tourist will upload stable-rubles in ERC-20 standard to his wallet in an application on his mobile phone with his own ruble and spend those tokens in Antalya. Hotels and shops in Antalya will be able to exchange TL or any other commodity (for example, vegetables-fruits or diesel) in exchange for these ruble-tokens. At the state level, the following can be done: Russian tourists will be able to enjoy a discounted (for example VAT exempt) holiday in Turkey with tourism tokens that they will purchase in their own countries in exchange for rubles. Those tourism tokens and gas and oil tokens (which Turkey bought in Russia) can be exchanged with each other. Conclusion: The issue of unlearn, which I have dealt with in this article, becomes even more important in the times when history accelerates. We are currently going through a period in which history accelerates compared to the 1990s, which is called "history is over". Societies that know how to survive in the times when history accelerates become societies in which individuals who can unlearn are abundant. I hope we will not miss this opportunity and we will emerge from both the new multi-polar world conjuncture and the blockchain revolution stronger as a country and as a society.”   Source: www.btchaber.com
