The furniture chain Dänisches Bettenlager will start with a new name
The furniture chain Dänisches Bettenlager will start in a few weeks with a new name and a new concept. From September 27th the chain will be called Jysk like the Danish mother. So far, with Dänisches Bettenlager in Germany and Jysk in the rest of Europe, two different companies have been at the start, now assortments, systems and processes with a uniform brand name are standardized under one roof, said the Danish Jysk boss Jan Bøgh at the headquarters of the German Jysk subsidiary in Handewitt near Flensburg.
For the entire changeover of the chain to the new concept, Jysk's head of
Germany, Christian Schirmer, is spending around 250 million euros. "Jysk" stands for "coming from Jutland" in Danish.
After the Swedish furniture giant Ikea and the Austrian furniture group XXXLutz, the Jysk Group sees itself as number three in the European furniture business by some distance. In the previous 2019/20 financial year (until the end of August), the company achieved sales of 4.1 billion euros, an increase of 7.6 percent over the previous year. A pre-tax profit of 489 (previous year: 426) million euros jumped out.
In the past financial year, the chain achieved record sales of more than 1.1 billion euros in Germany, despite the
corona pandemic. According to earlier information, the number of stores in Germany is expected to increase from around 970 to 1150. In total, Jysk currently operates more than 3,000 stores in Europe with 26,500 employees.
