AT&T said in a statement, "We have voluntarily accepted an additional 2-week delay at the request of Transportation Secretary
Pete Buttigieg. We know that aviation security and 5G can coexist. We are confident that further collaboration and technical considerations will resolve all issues."
Boeing and Airbus have warned about 5G technology
The CEOs of the world's largest aircraft manufacturers, Boeing and Airbus, sent a jointly signed letter to the US Secretary of Transportation,
Pete Buttigieg, on December 21, 2021, warning that this could cause great harm to the aviation industry.
In the letter, it was argued that 5G technology would negatively affect the ability of aircraft to operate safely, and a call was made to "postpone the transition to the technology."
On the other hand, groups in the sector advocating the transition to 5G technology accused the aviation industry of "playing fear-mongering and distorting the facts" and warned that delaying the transition to this technology would result in a loss of 10 billion dollars in the
economy.
US giant phone companies AT&T and Verizon were aiming to introduce 5G technology from C-band starting tomorrow.
It is noted that most phones in the USA are compatible, but cannot use these features because they have not switched to this technology.
