The ministry said in a statement that two new measures were taken in response to Russia's attack on Ukraine.
In the statement, it is stated that the new regulations target Russia's oil refining sector with export controls.
"These actions will further restrict access to US goods, software, and technology as part of our ongoing efforts to reduce Russia's ability to obtain the supplies it needs to continue its military aggression."
Gina Raimondo, the US Secretary of Commerce, whose views are included in the statement, stated that while the attacks against Ukraine continue, the places where Russia can apply for economic and financial support are decreasing day by day.
Raimondo said the United States and its allies will continue to stand by the Ukrainian people, and that “the new measures will further limit access to revenue to support the reduction of Russia's aggression."
The US administration announced at the beginning of the week that new export controls were introduced targeting Russia's oil refining and Belarus' technology imports.
On February 25, the Ministry of Commerce announced a series of export restrictions that would prevent Russia from accessing the technologies and other items it needs to maintain its military capabilities.
