The US stimulus package will also support the eurozone economy
The US $ 1.9 trillion anti-pandemic stimulus package is a major driver of the global economy and will have a positive impact on the euro area.
This was told the CNBC television station, the chief economist of the European Central Bank,
Philip Lane. "The fact that there is a strong stimulus in the US will strengthen global gross domestic product, increase exports from the eurozone," Lane said.
"Of course, the initial impact was more visible on the financial market, but in time it will be a major driver of the world economy," added the
ECB's chief economist.
The Organization for Economic Co-operation and Development estimated this month that the US stimulus package will add about one percentage point to global economic growth this year.
European officials are often criticized for not providing similar fiscal support as the US. The 27-member European Union, for example, agreed on common spending of € 750 billion last July, but has not yet distributed it.
