The V4 countries have agreed to jointly promote tourism. States will jointly promote tourism abroad under the "Discover Central Europe" brand. A spokesman for the Ministry of Transport and Construction, Ivan Rudolf, informed about it on Tuesday. "The agreement on a joint V4 procedure is a great signal for our entire region, which has a huge potential in the field of tourism development," said Katarína Bruncková, State Secretary of the Ministry of Transport. The group's countries want to promote the region this year in the markets of countries such as the USA, Canada, Austria, Germany, the Netherlands, Norway, Sweden, Denmark, the Russian Federation, Georgia, Azerbaijan and Israel. Václav Mika, Director General of Slovakia Travel, also took part in the agreement between the state secretaries of the V4 countries. He added that Member States will promote the region under the "Discover Central Europe" brand. "The product will be focused on traditional topics - Central European cities, culture and history, UNESCO monuments, spas, health tourism, gastronomy and adventure holidays," the ministry said, adding that a marketing plan of activities for 2021 was part of the adopted cooperation protocol. During the meeting, state secretaries of the ministries responsible for tourism of the V4 countries discussed current developments in tourism, including statistical indicators on measures taken by V4 member countries in the field of tourism to combat the new coronavirus pandemic and planned activities to restore tourism after the pandemic, including sources of funding for the revival of tourism. "Poland took over the presidency of the V4 after the Czech Republic on 1 July 2020. From 1 July 2021, Hungary will take over the presidency of the V4," the spokesman recalled.
