The introduction of harsh virus restrictions in the Chinese city of
Xi'an also negatively affects US chip maker Micron Technoloji's production.
The company announced that it can meet customer demand to a large extent, but there may be delays in new production. "We are working with local government officials to minimize the impact of the situation and continue our operations safely," the statement said.
It was also stated that some measures were taken, such as reducing the
workforce at the facility, in order to minimize the spread of the virus.
South Korean rival Samsung Electronics experienced the same problem as Micron and announced that production in the city would be adversely affected.
Both companies are among the largest companies producing chip that is being used in many products, from smartphones to computers.
