Turkey Grew by 6.7 Percent Despite the Pandemic
Turkey grew by 6.7 percent despite the pandemic. The third quarter results of the year have been announced.

TURKSTAT), announced that data of gross domestic product (GDP) in the third quarter (July-September). According to the data announced, the GDP forecast grew by 6.7 percent as a chained volume index in the third quarter of this year compared to last year, despite the impact of the new type of coronavirus (Covid-19) epidemic.
According to the production method, the estimation of GDP at current prices increased by 22.6 percent in the third quarter of this year compared to the same period last year and was recorded as 1 trillion 419 billion 483 million liras.
Considering the activities that make up the GDP, in the third quarter of 2020, financial and insurance activities as chained volume index were 41.1 percent, information and communication activities 15 percent, industry 8 percent, construction 6.4 percent, agriculture 6.2 percent, other service activities increased by 6 percent, real estate activities by 2.8 percent, public administration, education, human health and social service activities by 2.4 percent, and services by 0.8 percent. Professional, administrative and support services activities decreased by 4.5 percent, compared to the same period last year.
Turkish Statistical Institute (
TURKSTAT) also revised the data from the first and second quarters of 2020.
Economists who participated in the AA Finance Growth Expectations Survey predicted that the Gross Domestic Product (GDP) would grow by 5 percent in the third quarter of the year.
