Turkey-Qatar Trade Relations are Getting Stronger
Turkey-Qatar trade relations are getting stronger. A Joint Economic and Trade Commission was established between the two countries.
The agreement on increasing the volume of trade between the two countries was signed between
Qatar and Turkey, aimed at evaluating the possibilities for joint ventures in third countries.
In the precense of Turkey's President Recep Tayyip Erdogan and the Emir of Qatar Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Sania, 10 agreements were signed between the two countries. In addition, “Declaration on the Establishment of a Joint Economic and Trade Commission between the Ministry of Commerce of Republic of Turkey and the State of Qatar Ministry of Commerce and Industry“ was signed by the
Trade Minister Ruhsar Pekcan and Qatar Commerce and Industry Minister Ali Bin Ahmed Al Kuwari.
Thanks to this declaration, cooperation for the development of direct contacts between the institutions, enterprises and economic actors of the two countries; development of economic cooperation and increase trade volume between Turkey and Qatar will be aimed.
Turkey and Qatar will meet alternately each yeat under the established Joint Declaration on Economic and Trade Commission.
If deemed necessary, representatives from the private sector and non-governmental organizations will also be able to attend the commission meetings.
‘Turkey - Qatar Memorandum of Understanding on Joint Promotion Activities in the Free Zones Area’ also has paramount importance in the development of trade and economic relations between the two countries. With this agreement, it is envisaged that joint promotion activities will be carried out in order to make more effective use of the advantages offered by the free zones established in both countries by the private sector.
