TURKSTAT announced the unemployment figures. The unemployment rate was 12.2 percent in January.
Turkish Statistical Institute (TURKSTAT) has released its first revised unemployment data. According to the data announced, the unemployment rate was 12.2 percent in January.
Across Turkey, the number of unemployed among people aged 15 and over decreased by one thousand people in January 2021 compared to the previous month and was recorded as 3 million 861 thousand people.
According to the data released by
TURKSTAT as independent monthly estimates instead of quarterly moving averages, unemployment in the youth population was recorded as 24.7 percent in January. The employment rate in this group increased by 0.5 points to 30.1 percent; Labor force participation rate was 39.9 percent with a 0.2 point increase compared to the previous month.
Non-agricultural unemployment rate came as 14.2 percent. While the employment rate not based on seasonal effects was 43.8 percent, the labor force participation rate was recorded as 49.9 percent. The unemployment rate, which is not based on seasonal effects, was recorded as 13.4 percent in January.
TURKSTAT Inactive Labor Force Data Set Started to Publish
The idle labor force data set is now included in the monthly published data. Accordingly, the rate of idle workforce consisting of time-dependent underemployment, potential workforce and unemployed was recorded as 29.1 percent in January 2021, with an increase of 0.7 points compared to the previous month.
The integrated rate of time-related underemployment and unemployed was 19.7 percent, while the integrated rate of potential labor force and unemployed was 22.5 percent.
