UAE and Bahrain Offer Pfizer/BioNTech Vaccine to Those Who Have Sinopharm Vaccine! The United Arab Emirates (UAE) and Bahrain have started offering the Pfizer/BioNTech Vaccine as a supplement to Those initially immunized with the Sinopharm Vaccine. Gulf countries, which had vaccinated a large part of their populations, initially offered their citizens the Sinopharm vaccine produced by the Chinese National Medicines Group. Bahrain is currently battling a huge wave of infections, while the UAE is recording almost twice as many cases of Covid-19 than seven months ago. A representative of Mubadala Health, which is part of the government fund, said people can get the booster vaccine six months after the second vaccine was administered in the UAE capital, Abu Dhabi. Expressing that a different option can be provided as a booster vaccine, the representative said that this is at the discretion of the buyer and health professionals do not make any recommendations on the subject. Abu Dhabi, which has been offering the Sinopharm vaccine to the public since December, has been using the Pfizer/BioNTechBNTX (NasdaqGS) $229.09 +13.78(+6.40%) vaccine since April. When it was determined that some recipients did not produce enough antibodies, the third dose of Sinopharm vaccine was started to be offered. Likewise, a government representative in Bahrain said that eligible people can receive a booster dose of either Pfizer/BioNTech PFE (NYSE) $39.25 +0.28(+0.72%) or Sinopharm vaccines, regardless of which vaccine they received initially.

Bahrain, which reported 3,000 cases in a day last month, saw the peak of daily infections. The UAE, on the other hand, is currently reporting around 2,000 cases per day. This number is nearly double what was reported in early December. According to clinical data, there are concerns about the effectiveness of the Sinopharm vaccine, which was given emergency approval by the World Health Organization (WHO) in May. In the study in the journal Jama, it was announced that the Chinese vaccine was 78.1 percent effective against symptomatic Covid-19. However, data from studies conducted in some countries, including the UAE and Bahrain, showed that the vaccine was insufficient for the elderly and those with chronic diseases. In contrast, Waleed Khalifa Al Manea, Bahrain's health undersecretary, said the Sinopharm vaccine provides a high degree of protection, according to the Wall Street Journal. But he told the newspaper that those in Bahrain who are older than 50, are obese or have chronic illnesses are required to get the Pfizer booster vaccine six months after taking the second dose of Sinopharm. The United Arab Emirates (UAE) and Bahrain have started offering the Pfizer/BioNTech Vaccine as a supplement to those initially immunized with the Sinopharm Vaccine.
