A senior Pentagon official commented that on the 23rd day of Russia's attempt to invade Ukraine, the Russian advance in Ukraine came to a standstill. Speaking to reporters about the invasion of Ukraine, a senior Pentagon official said, "Today is the 23rd day of Russia's invasion. The Russian advance across the country is largely at a standstill."
The Pentagon official stated that they observed that the Russian forces did not make significant advances towards the city in the north and northwest of Kyiv, and that they could not see any new movement of the Russian forces in the east of the city. He added that the Ukrainian army was also unable to make any progress in the vicinity of Chernihiv and Kharkov.
He underlined that the Russian forces are still near Mikolayiv, but the Ukrainians continue to defend the city, while the heavy bombardment of the Russian army continues in Mariupol.
Expressing that Ukrainian airspace is still in dispute, the Pentagon official said, "The Ukrainian Air Force continues to fly aircraft and use its air and missile defense capabilities. The Russians have launched more than 1080 missiles at Ukraine since the beginning of the war."
