US companies created far fewer new jobs than expected last month.
This was pointed out on Wednesday by the ADP institute, which processes data for the private sector.
According to ADP, the US private sector created 365,000 new jobs in October. This is less than half of the development in September, which created 753,000 new jobs following an upward revision.
Economists expected to create 650,000 new jobs. They were based on original data for September, which showed the creation of 749,000 new jobs in the private sector.
However, according to ADP, the October data are not dramatic.
"Jobs continue to be created, albeit at a slower pace," said Ahu Yildirmaz of ADP. "Despite the slower growth rate, new jobs have emerged in all sectors of the economy," he added.
