Expressing that there are 100 thousand forces in Europe, President Joe Biden said, "We are trying to set an example for the whole world. We are sending our most qualified force here. There is a clear reason why I am here, to thank you without any hesitation."
Having completed his contacts in Brussels in the context of Russia's occupation of Ukraine, Biden went to Poland today and reached the city of Rzesnow. Joe Biden visited the US 82nd Airborne Division base in the city and spoke with American soldiers.
Biden, who ate pizza with the soldiers in the cafeteria of the base, thanked his soldiers. In his speech, Biden made the following statements:
"Changes are happening so fast. Democracy is based on consensus. What we are doing here is to protect the Ukrainian people from the massacre. In recent years, we have gained much more democracy than the number of democracies we have lost in the last 10 years. Humanity is passing through a crucial turning point. The Ukrainian people will be different people in 10–15 years. Who will prevail here, democracy or autocracy?
As I just said in the cafeteria, the most important thing is you. I am not exaggerating here, you are the most qualified communication force in history. The generation of my father and your grandfathers, they used to say, "the greatest generation to have seen World War II." No generation after that has gone through the incredible experience of warfare in which bodies are dismembered.
I have been to Afghanistan 30–40 times. Every time I go to those regions, like the last time I went, six people are taken back there. I was wondering which of you was the first to come out. It was the second, third, and fourth expeditions of each in that region. Such a generation has never been seen before.
It is one thing to enter the middle of the war, and another thing to go back home after coming home. We have a sacred burden. To help those in need as well as to ensure that the people we send to war can return home. Thank you for your service as your President.
My son served in Iraq, Kosovo. Like many of you, he didn't have to go to these wars. There, he had already voluntarily joined the army. There are hundreds of people like my son who do this job voluntarily. Thank you very much for that. Not only your aid to Europe, but also the work you do here is very important.
There are 100,000 soldiers in Europe right now. We are trying to be an example to the whole world. We are sending our most qualified force here. There is a clear reason why I am here, to thank you without any hesitation. Thank you for being you and for what you do. As my grandfather used to say, 'Don't lose your faith, Joe. Don't lose faith and spread,' he used to say. You also spread this belief. God be with you. Thank you very much."
