USD/TL Rate Started the New Year with a Decline
USD/TL rate started the new year with a decline. Completing the last trading day of 2020 at the level of 7.4299, the US dollar/TL exchange rate entered 2021 with a sharp decline. The exchange rate, which declined to 7.34 in the morning hours of the first day of the week, did not change much after the announcement of inflation data.
The dollar/TL rate, which fell to the level of 7.30 on Wednesday last week and saw a 200-day average, gained value in volumeless transactions on the last trading day of 2020 and traded at the level of 7.4299.
The exchange rate entered the new year with a sharp decline.
The decrease in the dollar / TL fell to the level of 7.3479, after exceeding 1 percent. The exchange rate found buyers at 7.39 levels after the announcement of inflation data. Euro / TL traded at 9.0772. The currency basket was recorded as 8.2319.
Decline in exchange rates continues after tightening steps taken by the
Central Bank of the Republic of Turkey (CBRT).
The dollar / TL exchange rate, which closed 2019 at the level of 5.9511, started 2020 from 5.9489. Rate completed 2020 at the level of 7.4299. Euro/TL started last year at 6.6704 and completed at 9.0747 level. In the currency basket, the closing price for 2019 was 6.3105, while last year's level was recorded as 8.2582.
BIST 100 Index at Borsa Istanbul completed the last trading day of 2020 with a loss of 0.22 percent. The benchmark index, which started the first trading day of 2021 with a 0.55 percent gain, continued to rise after the announcement of inflation data.
