Vaccines costs from two hundred to a thousand euros on Darknet
Kaspersky experts examined 15 different points of sale on Darknet. They found offers for three major vaccines against COVID-19, Pfizer / BioNTech, AstraZenec and Moderna. However, some vendors also offer unproven vaccines.
Most of the sellers came from
France, Germany, Great Britain and the USA. Prices for one dose of vaccine ranged from 200 to 1,000 euros. Most of these black market sellers carried out between 100 and 500 transactions, indicating that the transaction actually took place. However, it is not clear exactly what Darknet users buy.
According to the information available to
Kaspersky experts, it is not possible to find out how many doses of vaccines advertised online are real doses, as many healthcare facilities are left with some remaining doses and in how many cases this is fraud.
"Keep in mind that even if you received a shipment at all by mail, what you receive will most likely be an ineffective and ineffective dose. But more importantly, obtaining such vaccines is illegal, "experts said.
The company's security expert Dmitry Galov stated that almost everything can be found on Darknet. It is therefore no surprise that the sellers also tried to capitalize on the vaccination campaign. Over the last year, a number of frauds using the COVID-19 theme have been successful.
"At the moment, however, people are not only selling vaccines as such, but even vaccination records - a document that could allow you to travel freely. It is important that users pay attention to any 'offers' related to the pandemic, and, of course, keep in mind that buying a vaccine on Darknet is not a good idea, "he added.
