President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky said, "If our people are destroyed in Mariupol, if so-called referendums are held in the occupied territories, Ukraine will withdraw from any negotiations (with Russia)."
Speaking at the press conference held on the 59th day of Russia's occupation of Ukraine, President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenski underlined the importance of Mariupol for them and said, "If our people are destroyed in Mariupol, if so-called referendums are held in the occupied regions, Ukraine He will withdraw from any negotiations (with Russia).
President Zelensky used the following statements regarding meeting with Russian President Vladimir Putin:
"I don't want to meet with the President of Russia, but if we plan to resolve all issues through diplomacy, I have to do it. If it is about bringing Putin before the international court, I am sure that anyone who gave the order to kill people and children will be brought before this court. I believe in this."
“Speaking of nuclear weapons, I believe that in the modern world nuclear weapons can only be used when the connection with reality is lost. If the Russian administration does not lose its connection and balance with reality, it will not use nuclear weapons. But is it possible to use this weapon? Yes. Do I believe this? I don't want to."
Volodymyr Zelenski commented on the developments regarding Ukraine's integration process with NATO, "It was a big mistake not to include Ukraine in NATO. Our admission to NATO would strengthen the alliance, it would be a guarantee that Russia would not start the war. It was a strategic mistake."
Stating that he will host United States Secretary of State Antony Blinken and Defense Minister Lloyd Austin in Kiev on the first day of the week, President Zelenski concluded his statement with the following words:
"It is no longer possible for them to come to us empty-handed. We expect not only gifts and some cakes, but also special items and special tools. I believe we will reach an agreement with the United States or get part of the Ukrainian arms package that we have agreed upon so far."
