What Does US Sanctions Concerning Turkey (CAATS) Contains? What Does US Sanctions Concerning Turkey (CAATS) Contains? USA is preparing to impose sanctions on Turkey for its purchase of Russian S-400 missiles. It is stated that aforementioned sanctions could be applied any moment. According to the news in the Reuters yesterday evening, four sources, two of them from the US, informed the channel. Accordingly, the aforementioned sanctions will be applied to the Presidency Defense Industry Presidency (SSB) and SSB President İsmail Demir. The Law to Fight US Adversaries through Sanctions (CAATSA) includes the US president choosing at least five of the 12 possible sanctions against countries in breach. It is stated that 12 options ranging from light to severe can target individuals or entities. These sanctions are listed as follows:   1) Sanction for US Export-Import Bank loans or aids, 2) Sanctions against US exports of goods and services, 3) Sanctions against large loans from US financial institutions, 4) Trying to block loans from international financial institutions, including the World Bank and the International Monetary Fund, 5) Sanctions against financial institutions that own US government funds or serve as a US market provider, 6) Sanctions for the supply of goods or services from the USA, 7) Sanctions for any foreign exchange transaction subject to US law, 8) Sanction for any bank payment or transfer subject to US law, 9) Sanction for all kinds of transactions related to property, 10) Sanctions for any investment in US assets, 11) Not granting visa to institutional officials related to the institution or person sanctioned, 12) Sanctions against the administrators of the institution or person that are the target of the sanctions.   What is CAATSA? The expansion of CAATSA is known as the "Law of Fighting US Adversaries through Sanctions". CAATSA entered into force for the first time on August 2, 2017, with the approval of the congress and signed by the US President Donald Trump. The 70-page CAATSA law contains 12 separate sanctions. It includes the fact that the President of the United States has to choose at least 5 of the 12 sanctions. Here is the part concerning Turkey: Turkey's purchase of S-400 missiles from Russia.
