WHO Approves the Emergency Use of Pfizer-BioNTech Vaccine
WHO approves the emergency use of the Pfizer-BioNTech vaccine. The vaccine produced by the companies was approved in England for the first time.
The World Health Organization (WHO) has approved the emergency use of the coronavirus (Covid-19) vaccine developed and produced in partnership with Pfizer-BioNTech.
Making a written statement near the end of 2020, the World Health Organization (WHO) stated that the vaccine developed by the German biotechnology company
BioNTech with the American pharmaceutical company Pfizer was approved for emergency use.
In a statement on the subject, WHO Deputy Director General Dr. Mariangela Simao used the following statements:
“This is a very positive step towards global access to Covid-19 vaccines.”
Simao also pointed out that a global effort is required to distribute the vaccine equally to all countries in the world in need of the vaccine. Emphasizing that WHO and its partners “work day and night to evaluate other vaccines that meet safety and efficacy standards,” Simao pointed out that it is vital to ensure critical vaccine supply for all countries to end the epidemic.
Turkey also made an agreement
Turkey had made an agreement for the Pfizer-Biontech vaccine. Regarding the matter, Health Minister Fahrettin Koca said:
“According to the agreement made for this year, the dose that Prof Dr Uğur Şahin announced was 550 thousand doses, ready, in the storage. This amount expected to arrive until the end of the year or in early January. "
