World's Best Selling Computer Brands Announced
The number of computers sold in the second quarter of the year and the top selling brands have been announced. The research conducted by IDC revealed a very serious contraction in the market. And why?
US-based market research company International Data Corporation (IDC) announced computer sales figures for the second quarter of 2022. The researches revealed that computer sales have dropped significantly. So much so that PC manufacturers realized only 71.3 million shipments in the last 3-month period. This figure was recorded as 15.3 percent lower than the same period last year. IDC says the contraction in the industry was expected, but COVID-19 restrictions in China and global inflation have exacerbated the contraction.
In fact, this data doesn't paint such a bad picture. Yes, sales in 2022 are considerably lower than in 2021. However, when we look at the pre-pandemic period, i.e. 2018-2019, we see an increase in sales. Shipments in those periods were recorded as 62.1 million and 65.1 million, respectively. According to statements made by Jitesh Ubrani, a senior executive at IDC, as phones and tablets continue to be used; the contraction in the PC industry will continue. According to Ubrani, PCs may even come to the point of extinction one day.
The research conducted by IDC also revealed which computer manufacturers are the best-selling computer manufacturers. When we look at the announced results, we see that the Chinese technology company Lenovo is at the top. Lenovo, which made 17.5 million sales in the last 3 months, was followed by HP, Dell, Acer, Apple and ASUS, respectively.
2022 2nd quarter top selling computer brands
- Lenovo: 17.5 million
- HP: 13.5 million
- Dell: 13.2 million
- Acer 5 million
- Apple: 4.8 million
- ASUS: 4.7 million
Since the difference between Apple and ASUS is 1 per thousand, both companies are ranked 5th.
The research also revealed the companies that lost the most blood between the second quarter of 2022 and the second quarter of 2021. According to this, HP was the loser of the last quarter. Because HP shipments were 27.6 percent lower than the same period last year. HP was followed by Apple with 22.5 percent loss, Acer with 19.2 percent loss, Lenovo with 12.1 percent loss, Dell with 5.3 percent loss and ASUS with 4.6 percent loss. Not a single brand increased its shipments in this quarter...
