Biden's Advisor: We do not seek to harm Turkey's Economy New US President Joe Biden's diplomatic adviser Michael Carpenter, “We do not seek to harm Turkey’s economy.” According to the news on the Euronews channel, a videoconference was held under the chairmanship of Biden on the EU-US relations. The conference was attended by Biden's adviser Michael Carpenter, as well as EU’s US Ambassador Stavros Lambrinidis, US Ambassador to Greece Geoffrey Pyatt and France's former EU affairs minister Nathalie Loiseau. Carpenter, commenting on the relationship with the EU,US and Turkey at the conference, said, Erdogan's S-400 purchase from Russia, Eastern Mediterranean, Libya and Nagorno-Karabakh policy is "irresponsible" and that it’s not ally worthy. Stating that there are issues which needed an urgent solution between United States and Turkey, Carpenter used the following phrases: “As in the S-400 issue, exit routes must be found. If Turkey chages its actions, there may be positive examples on the table, but there will be potentially negative consequences for the current Erdogan government if it continues to follow that policy.”   “Cards Should Be Played Carefully” Carpenter underlined that Turkey should act in a coordinated matter with US and EU, said he doesnt approve the removal of President of France Macron from Turkey's Customs Union. Carpenter noted the following on the subject: “It is not possible to act one sided on relations with Turkey. I don't think it is right to approach problems with a sledgehammer. But it is important that the EU's trump card against Turkey should be used with caution.” Also Carpenter clarified the interpretation of the Turkey-US relations with the following words: “We are not seeking to bring down the economy by compressing Turkey into a corner or with sanctions.”   It is Not A Right Method to Corner Turkey Stating that the Turkish Lira is the most value losing currency among the developing countries, Carpenter underlined that it is an important start for USA and EU that the Turkey is being forced in to an open market and to an open trade conditions. Carpenter said that on the other hand it is not a right method to corner Turkey with economic sanctions and NATO members should create a common front. Touching on the resignation of Berat Albayrak in addition to these issues, Carpenter said, “The Turkish Lira has become the currency that has lost the most value this year. Albayrak's resignation showed that the Turkish government can reevaluate its policies when the problems accumulate.” Minister of Treasury and Finance Berat Albayrak announced his resignation in a letter he shared on his Instagram account last Sunday.       Source: Euronews
