BIST 100 Index Closed the Day with a Decrease

BIST 100 index closed the day with a decrease. BIST 100 index depreciated by 1.34 percent in Borsa Istanbul and ended the day at 1,373.25 points.

At the end of the day, the total transaction volume in the BIST 100 index, which decreased by 18.61 points compared to the previous closing, was recorded as 12.4 billion liras. While the banking index depreciated by 0.78 percent at the close, the holding index also lost 1.79 percent. While the only increase among the sector indices was on construction with 0.82%, most decline was recorded on sports with 4.03%. Analysts stated that the concern that new variants in the coronavirus (Covid-19) epidemic may affect the economic recovery and the increasing tension between China and India suppressed the stock markets at the beginning of the new week. It was stated that tomorrow the economic confidence index in the country, the statements of the President of the European Central Bank Christine Lagarde, the officials of the US Central Bank, inflation in Germany, confidence indices in the Eurozone and consumer confidence index in the USA will be followed. In technical terms, analysts stated that the level of 1.370 will be followed as support for the BIST 100 index, and said that the level of 1.420 points stands out as resistance in closings above 1.400 points.
