BIST 100 Index Started the Day Horizontally

BIST 100 index started the day horizontally. BIST 100 index in Borsa Istanbul started the day with 1,439.62 points, moving sideways.

At the beginning of the day, the BIST 100 index, which decreased by 0.24 points and 0.02 percent compared to the previous close, dropped to 1,439.62 points. While the banking index depreciated by 0.11 percent at the opening, the holding index gained 0.03 percent. Among the sector indices, construction was the highest earner with 0.94 percent, while the most decline was recorded on securities investment trust with 0.32 percent. Yesterday, the BIST 100 index in Borsa Istanbul moved mainly on sales with the effect of the weakening in the global risk appetite and the strengthening of the US dollar, and finished the day at 1,439.86 points with a depreciation of 0.67 percent. Analysts said that the US dollar strengthened against other currencies and the global risk appetite decreased after the minutes of the last meeting of the US Federal Reserve (FED) increased the possibility that the decrease in asset purchases could begin this year. Stating that investors are focused on the Jackson Hole meeting to be held next week, analysts stated that the directions on the roadmap to be followed in reducing asset purchases will be important in the speeches of FED Chairman Jerome Powell. In technical terms, analysts stated that the level of 1.470 stands out as resistance, and if the index remains below 1.440, the level of 1.410 will stand out as support for the BIST 100 index.
