BIST 100 Index Started Thursday With A Sharp Decline
BIST 100 index started Thursday with a sharp decline. BIST 100 index in Borsa Istanbul started the day at 1,862.94 points with a decrease of 7.59 percent.
At the beginning of the day, the
BIST 100 index, which lost value by 153.09 points and 7.59 percent compared to the previous close, decreased to 1,862.94 points.
While the banking index lost 6.69 percent in the opening, the holding index lost 8.74 percent. While all sector indices started the day with a decline, most decline was recorded on transportation with 9.62 percent.
After the opening, the index-linked circuit breaker system was activated in Borsa Istanbul, and transactions were temporarily suspended in the stock market, contracts based on stocks and stock indices traded in VIOP, and the Debt Securities Market Equity Repo Market.
BIST 100 index, after following a fluctuating course yesterday, closed the day with a decrease of 0.07 percent at 2,016.03 points.
Analysts stated that after Russia officially launched the invasion of Ukraine, a sales-oriented course was observed in the global stock markets, and that the rise in commodity prices, especially gold, oil and wheat, gained momentum.
Emphasizing that increased risk perception brings volatility and investors should act cautiously, analysts said that the reflections of developments on energy prices will also be critical in terms of inflation expectations and the course of monetary policies.
Analysts stated that today, the statements of the officials of the US Central Bank and the
European Central Bank and the summary of the Monetary Policy Committee of the Central Bank of the Republic of Turkey will be monitored closely.
In technical terms, it was stated that the levels of 1.850 and 1.780 are in the support position for the BIST 100 index.
