BIST 100 Started Thursday With A Rise

BIST 100 index started Thursday with a rise. BIST 100 index in Borsa Istanbul opened the day with an increase of 0.41 percent at 2,049.74 points.

At the beginning of the day, the BIST 100 index, which gained 8.31 points and 0.41 percent compared to the previous close, rose to 2,049.74 points. While the banking index gained 0.40 percent at the opening, the holding index gained 0.36 percent. Among the sector indices, electricity was recorded as the highest earner with 0.69 percent, and the most decline was recorded on tourism with 4.63 percent. Although BIST 100 index followed a fluctuating course yesterday, it maintained its positive outlook and closed the day at 2,041.43 points with an increase of 0,16 percent. The minutes of the January meeting of the US Federal Reserve (Fed), released yesterday, showed that the bank is ready to increase the interest rate and shrink its balance sheet soon. After the minutes were in line with the directions of Fed Chairman Jerome Powell and did not show a more hawkish outlook than feared, the probability of a 50 basis point increase in interest rates in the bond market decreased to 35 percent in the bond market. The bank is expected to increase interest rates by a total of 150 basis points throughout the year, the first of which was in March. Analysts stated that the news flow regarding the Russia-Ukraine crisis remains at the center of the agenda, and on the monetary policy side, the statements of the European Central Bank (ECB) President Lagarde and Fed officials will be followed, as well as the summit where the G20 finance leaders will come together today. Analysts said that when looking at the macroeconomic data agenda, weekly money and bank statistics in the country, weekly unemployment applications in the USA and housing starts will be monitored closely. In technical terms, it was stated that the level of 1.990 is in a position of support and the level of 2.090 stands out as the resistance for the BIST 100 index.
