British giant retail store chains Boots and John Lewis are preparing to lay off 5,500 employees.
Britain's largest pharmaceutical and healthcare chain Boots said that the company's headquarters will be reorganized; also announced that it would close 48 optic branches and lay off 4 thousand employees.
In a statement made by John Lewis, 8 stores will be closed and 1,300 employees will be terminated.
£ 30 Million Investment Plan
British Finance Minister Rishi Sunak announced on July 8 an investment plan of £ 30 million to recover the economy. Speaking at the British parliament, Altar noted that the government's paid leave for those who could not work due to the coronavirus (Covid-19) pandemic will continue until the end of October.
