Car Sales In Britain Reaching Their Lowest Level In 21 Years

Car sales in Britain fell by more than four per cent last month, reaching their lowest level in 21 years. The British Association of Car Manufacturers and Dealers (SMMT) announced on Monday. According to SMMT, 328,041 vehicles were sold in Britain in September, down 4.4% from the same month last year. In addition, it is the weakest September since 1999 and, compared to the 10-year average, last month represents a 15.8% drop in sales. Since the beginning of this year, car sales in Britain have fallen by 33.2%. The pandemic of the new coronavirus was affected, which hit the car market, especially in the months of March to May. Since June, following the relaxation of the restrictive measures taken to curb the spread of coronavirus, customers have returned to outlets, but uncertainty caused by Brexit and the risk of import duties remain a major concern in the sector. Therefore, they expect a high drop in sales in the automotive industry for the whole year. According to SMMT, it could reach 30.6%.
