Easyjet Is Facing A Loss Of More Than £ 800 Million This Year
The British low-cost airline easyJet has warned that it is facing a loss of more than £ 800 million this year, and expects to use only 25 percent of its normal transport capacity next year for the coronavirus pandemic.
This year's loss of easyJet will be the first in its 25-year history. The airline said it expects a pre-tax loss of between £ 815 and £ 845 million. This forecast is worse than the analysts estimate that the company will report a loss of £ 794 million. The bbc.com portal informs about it.
"The aviation industry continues to face the most serious threat in its history, and the British government urgently needs to come up with a targeted package of measures to ensure that airlines are able to support economic recovery when it occurs," said easyJet CEO Johan Lundgren.
EasyJet has already taken out a government loan of £ 600 million, lost 4,500 jobs, raised £ 608 million for the sale of aircraft and received £ 419 million from shareholders.
