EU May Lift Travel Restrictions of USA
EU may lift travel restrictions of USA. The restrictions are expected to be lifted this week.
According to Bloomberg's report, a diplomat with knowledge on the subject said that Portugal, which holds the EU term presidency, suggested "whitelisting" countries such as the USA, Albania, Hong Kong, Lebanon, Macau, the Republic of North Macedonia, Saudi Arabia, Serbia and Taiwan for travel permits."
The diplomat, who requested anonymity, stated that there is no objection to the proposal across the
EU (European Union) and that EU government authorities in Brussels will approve the expanded "white list" on Wednesday.
The approval of the said proposal will also benefit EU airline companies that have been deeply affected by the travel restrictions made compulsory by the coronavirus epidemic.
While some EU member states currently allow vaccinated US citizens to visit their countries, tourism activity is expected to revive in all countries across the bloc with the US being included in the 'white list'.
Despite the proposal, which is expected to be accepted by the EU, for the full revival of trans-Atlantic travel, the US needs to lift the travel
restriction to EU member states.
