G7 leaders will fight against ransomware. At the G7 summit, where world leaders came together, important statements were also made about cryptocurrencies. G7 leaders have officially committed to fight against cyberattacks known as "ransomware", where hackers are asked to be paid a ransom, usually in cryptocurrencies. It was stated that US President Joe Biden and other leaders agreed on a number of actions on cyber-attack, as well as the fight against forced labor and corruption in the global supply chain.
Recently, ransomwares have risen to the top of the agenda after attacks against some leading organizations in the USA. The cyber attacks, which were first made to the largest and most important oil pipeline company of the USA, Colonial Pipeline, and then to the beef company JBS, where the ransom payment was demanded in BTC, these attacks began to be equated with terrorist attacks in the USA. So much so that it was claimed that these attacks were carried out by Russia and Vladimir Putin was blamed.
In the press statement made by the White House, it was noted that the increase in the number of ransomwares is becoming a threat for the G7 countries day by day. Following statements were made:
“The international community, both governments and private sector players, work together to ensure that critical infrastructure is resilient to this threat, investigate and prosecute malicious cyber activity, strengthen collective cyber defense, and address criminal activity that occurs within states within their borders.”
Meanwhile, in the
Biden-Putin meeting to be held on Wednesday, it is expected that issues such as ransomwares and cyber security will be discussed first.
