How Did Borsa Istanbul Close Today?

The BIST 100 index, which shows the shares with the highest market capitalization traded in Borsa Istanbul, rose to 4,116 points in the morning session, and then fell to 4,068 points with sales during the day.

After the buyers re-engaged in the BIST 100 towards the closing, the BIST 100 index returned to 4,100 points in the last hour. The trading volume of the index exceeded 74 billion liras today. Today, the chemical, petroleum and plastics and insurance sectors stood out with a 3% rise in Borsa Istanbul. Banks were announced as the sector that fell the most with a 1.5% decline near the closing while moving on the sellers' side today. Sports, technology, mineral products and simple metals were recorded as the other sectors that moved negative today.

Among the stocks included in the BIST 100 index, SASA was the top gainer today with an increase in value exceeding 9.5%. Then, Bera, Turk Prysmian, recorded increases in the 8% band. The most declining stocks in BIST 100 today were (Smart Güneş (SMRTG), (Ford Otomotiv) and (Aselsan) towards the close. In foreign markets, US stock markets started the day in the minus after yesterday's decline. Nasdaq and S&P 500 fell by 0.5% on average at the opening, while Dow Jones was 0.4% negative. Asian stock markets also closed the day in negative territory, with the Hang Seng, the volatile index of recent days, down 3%. At the end of the day, European indices continued to fall by 1% on average. It was observed that Borsa Istanbul diverged positively from foreign markets today as well.
