Huawei Crisis Between China and Canada is Over
The Huawei crisis between China and Canada is over. Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau has announced that two Canadians have left China.
The tension between
China and Canada about the retention of Huawei's CFO has ended. Huawei CFO Ming Vancou was allowed to leave Canada after a deal with the US, while China released two Canadian businessmen Michael Spavor and former diplomat Michael Kovrig.
The diplomatic tension between Canada and China had begun with the arrest of Ming Vancou, the daughter of Rin Cingfey, the owner of the Chinese technology giant
Huawei, at Canada's Vancouver Airport, on her way to Mexico, on December 1, 2018, on the grounds that she was fraudulent to circumvent the US sanctions on Iran.
After Ming's arrest, China arrested former Canadian diplomat Michael Kovrig and entrepreneurial businessman Michael Spavor for alleged "activities that endanger China's national security".
China also retrial Robert Schellenberg, another Canadian citizen who was sentenced to 15 years in prison in 2016 for a drug trafficking case, and sentenced him to death on the same day.
