Indices in the USA Started the Day with a Rise
With the effect of Janet Yellen's support package statements, indices in the USA started the last trading day of the week by gaining value.
Indices in the USA started the day with a rise. With the impact of US Treasury Secretary Janet Yellen's statements on the coronavirus incentive package, the indices started trading on Friday with an increase.
At the opening of the last day of the week, the Dow Jones index gained 0.19 percent and was traded at 31,554.22 points.
The S&P 500 index started trading at 3,926.04 points with an increase of 0.31 percent, and the Nasdaq index at 13,928.65 points with 0.46 percent gain.
The indices increased after the US Treasury Secretary Janet Yellen made statements regarding the support package planned to be implemented to combat the economic effects of the coronavirus epidemic.
Reiterating the need to pass the package in question, Janet Yellen said, “We hope to see progress in the enactment of this package in the next few weeks.”
Yellen also pointed out that the cost of implementing a low-cost package against the effects of the epidemic is more than a large package, and expressed that they think the benefits of such a large support package will outweigh the costs in the long run.
Stating that inflation should not be a big concern, Yellen said, "Inflation has been very low for more than 10 years and you know that it is a risk. However, the
US Federal Reserve (Fed) has tools to address this risk."
