Minimum Wage Meeting Will be Held on December 4th
The minimum wage meeting will be held on December 4th. At the meeting, the minimum wage amount to be given in 2021 will be determined.
Zehra Zümrüt Selçuk, Minister of Family, Labor and Social Services, informed an AA correspondent on the issue. Stating that they exchanged views with the representatives of workers and employers for the first meeting of the Minimum Wage Determination Commission,
Minister Selçuk said:
“We have decided that our Minimum Wage Determination Commission will hold its first meeting on December 4 to determine the minimum wage that will be valid in 2021. I wish the process to be beneficial for all segments. This year, I hope that the minimum wage will be determined with the consensus of all parties.”
How is the Minimum Wage Determined?
According to the law, the minimum wage is determined by the Minimum Wage Determination Commission consisting of 15 people, 5 workers each, employers and state representatives. The Commission, the employer Confederation of Employers 'Unions of Turkey (TISK), the Confederation of Labor Unions of Turkey because it has the most members of the workers' confederations (Turk-Is) represents.
Under the chairmanship of the Minister of Family, Labor and Social Services, Selçuk, after the first meeting to be held at the Ministry, the commission meets separately, hosted by the worker and the employer. The last meeting of the commission is also held in the Ministry.
The commission, chaired by one of the members determined by the Ministry, convenes with the participation of at least 10 members and decides by majority vote. In case of equality of votes, the party with the chairman is deemed to provide the majority.
Currently, the minimum wage is 2 thousand 324 TL.
