New Measures Coming in the UK and Germany
New measures are coming in the UK and Germany. While Germany is expected to extend quarantine measures due to the increasing number of cases, schools in England may be closed for a while.
Germany is considering continuing quarantine measures after January 10 in order to reduce the number of cases caused by the coronavirus epidemic.
While German Chancellor Angela Merkel and local leaders are expected to agree on the new coronavirus measures, it is not yet clear how long the quarantine period will be extended.
Speaking to a television channel,
Health Minister Jens Spahn said, “The number of cases is still very high, so we must extend the restrictions.”
Pointing out that the number of cases should decrease continuously, Spahn said, “This is better than loosening the measures early and facing new problems after a few weeks.”
On the UK side,
Prime Minister Boris Johnson warned that the restrictions on the country's gradual quarantine could possibly get tighter. Johnson also reported that schools could also be closed under these measures.
While the British government states that there is increasing pressure to close schools, the educators' union continues to insist on moving to distance education.
