According to Kerigan, Head of Innovation at SWIFT, CBDCs could be a great force in the near future; “Interest in CBDCs has been growing steadily over the past few years, with central banks in 87 different countries already exploring their headquarters. These countries account for more than 90 percent of global GDP, suggesting that regulated digital currencies could be a major force in the not-too-distant future. As an integral part of the global financial system, as a provider of networks and reciprocal services, we are in a key position to offer a solution to this challenge. A market with huge potential that can allow businesses to unlock brand new revenue streams that were previously limited.”
