Professional domestic investor takes the stage
While global stock markets tested new highs, Borsa Istanbul also joined the rally with the cheapness in dollar terms and many companies in the industry and banking sector trading below their historical valuations. As the yield on TL deposits fell, domestic investors returned to the stock market.
The rise in foreign exchange in the last two months has not negatively reflected on the stock market, on the contrary, demand for the undervalued stock market has increased. Foreigners have a share in the rise in Borsa Istanbul, but the biggest support comes from domestic investors.
The Central Bank (CBRT) lowered the policy rate to 16 percent. Annual inflation is at 19.89 percent. This means that the real return is minus 3.9 percent. In such an environment, there is an increase in Borsa Istanbul with purchases coming to exporting industrial companies and private banks that increase their return on equity.
In Borsa Istanbul, the BIST 100 index gained 0.50 percent and closed the day at 1,583 points, realizing the highest closing of all time, while also breaking the closing record on a weekly basis.
