Strikes by Amazon employees in Germany will not affect deliveries
The US online store Amazon assured clients on Monday that strikes in six operations in Germany would not affect the delivery of ordered products.
The
Verdi union has called on Amazon workers to go on strike from Sunday night for four days. This is the latest attempt to force Amazon to recognize collective bargaining agreements.
The union requested that the internet store accept retail labor arrangements in addition to a collective agreement for "good and safe jobs." In
Germany, the organization is yet to sign a collective agreement.
An Amazon spokesman said that more than 90% of the employees in its logistics operations in Germany work as usual. He added that the employees of the internet giant have "excellent salaries, excellent additional benefits and excellent career prospects".
Amazon is facing a long-running struggle with unions in Germany, its largest market after the United States, for better pay and working conditions for logistics employees, who have been organizing strikes often since 2013.
