The amount of grain transported through Ukrainian ports exceeded 3 million 250 thousand tons
The Ministry of National Defense (MND) announced that the amount of grain shipped since August 1 has exceeded 3 million 250 thousand tons and that 161 ships, 144 of which departed from Ukrainian ports, went to Ukrainian ports empty to receive grain.
According to the statement made by the Ministry of National Defense, as a result of the intensive diplomatic efforts of President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, in July, Turkey, the Russian Federation, Ukraine and the United Nations signed the "Initiative Document on the Safe Shipment of Grain and Foodstuffs through Ukrainian Ports". Subsequently, the Joint Coordination Center in Istanbul, which was inaugurated by Minister of National Defense Hulusi Akar, launched the first ship from the Ukrainian port of Odessa on August 1, 2022.
For 46 days, grain shipments continued as planned, and as of today, the amount of grain shipped has exceeded 3 million 250 thousand tons. While 144 of the grain ships departed from Ukrainian ports, 161 ships went to Ukrainian ports empty to receive grain. In addition to these ships, 11 more ships departed from Ukrainian ports loaded with grain as of today.
