The number of tourists in Spain decreased year-on-year for the ninth month in a row
The number of foreign tourists in Spain also decreased year-on-year in November 2020, for the ninth month in a row.
The reason was the renewal of travel restrictions and strict blockades to stop the second wave of the new
coronavirus pandemic. The statistical office INE informed about it on Tuesday.
According to the latest data, the number of foreign tourists in Spain fell by 90.2 percent year on year to 460,000 in November.
At the same time, the number of tourists from Britain decreased the most, by 89.9 percent year-on-year to 88,150 people. This was followed by tourists from Germany, who received only 76,322 (86.6% less than the year before) and France (66,533, a decrease of 88.4%).
In the first 11 months of 2020,
Spain was visited by 18.3 million foreign tourists, which was about 78 percent less than 79.2 million visitors in the same period in 2019, INE said.
Tourist spending fell 91 percent last November from the previous year, INE added.
