Statement from Türk-İş; Hunger Limit is Above the New Minimum Wage
As the end of July is approaching, the results of the 'Hunger and Poverty Line' survey were shared by Türk-İş. According to the research, the hunger limit exceeded the new minimum wage by 1,340 TL. Annual kitchen inflation was stated as 128.4 percent.
According to the research conducted by Türk-İş, the monthly food expenditure amount that a family of four should make in order to have a healthy, balanced and adequate diet, known as the hunger limit, has moved to 6 thousand 840 TL.
When food, clothing, housing (rent, electricity, water, fuel), transportation, education, health and similar compulsory living expenses are taken into account, the poverty line rose to 22 thousand 279 TL. The 'cost of living' of a single worker rose to 8 thousand 929 TL per month.
In the continuation of the research, the increase in the minimum expenditure amount that a family of four living in Ankara should make for food was realized as 7.01 percent compared to the previous month.
As of the last twelve months, the rate of increase was calculated as 128.44 percent. The seven-month rate of change was recorded as 66.90 percent. The price of milk, which is among the basic foods of the kitchen, increased, yogurt remained stable, while cheese increased by 10 percent.
On a monthly basis, lamb meat increased by 10 percent, fish by 12 percent, eggs by 26 percent, chickpeas by 14 percent, dried beans by 12 percent, green lentils by 12 percent, green lentils by 8 percent, red lentils and chicken prices increased slightly, while the price of oilseeds remained unchanged. The price of beef decreased by 2 percent due to the decrease in demand caused by the Eid Al-adha.
